The SEED Family Foundations Parenting Program is a parent education program designed to provide parents and guardians with education related to child development, parenting skills, co-parenting communication, conflict reduction, emotional regulation, and family stability. The program is appropriate for parents involved in divorce, custody, parenting plans, juvenile court, probation, or other court or agency referrals, as well as parents seeking general parenting education.
The goal of the SEED Family Foundations Parenting Program is to help parents understand child development, improve parenting skills, reduce conflict between parents, improve communication, and create stable and supportive environments that promote children’s emotional, behavioral, and academic success.
The program recognizes that parenting practices are often influenced by family traditions, generational parenting practices, and community culture. The program incorporates consideration of Appalachian family culture, extended family systems, community support networks, and the unique strengths and challenges faced by families in our region while providing research-based parenting strategies that support healthy child development and family relationships.
The 4-Hour Parenting Education Seminar includes instruction on the impact of conflict on children, child development, communication, co-parenting, parenting plans, stress management, and family stability. The program focuses on practical strategies parents can use to support their children, improve communication, reduce conflict, and create stable home environments.
